I'd signed out of my iTunes account and signed back in This option was not present in the other automatically generated playlists "Favorites Mix" and "Chill Mix". On a hunch, I went ahead and selected "Delete". The playlist neither disappeared nor updated right away, but the "Delete" option did vanish from the right-click menu. The next Friday, however, the playlist did finally update. It's possible that at some point I tried to save the contents of the New Music Mix playlist for future reference and this created some sort of broken, static version that prevented the dynamic playlist from updating; it would also not surprise me if one of Apple's automatic playlist updaters just messed up at some point on their own accord. But anyhow, if you're having trouble with a dynamically generated playlist refusing to update after multiple weeks, check to see if "Delete" is available when you right-click it in iTunes on a Macbook, and if so, you might want to go ahead and click it and wait a week to see what happens.
